Chemical Formula: C??H??SO?H (approx.)
Molecular Weight: ~326.5 g/mol (average; chain length dependent)
Description:
Acid Slurry, also known as Linear Alkyl Benzene Sulphonic Acid (LABSA), is a viscous, dark brown liquid with strong acidic properties. It is produced by sulfonation of linear alkyl benzene (LAB) and serves as the primary anionic surfactant in the manufacture of detergents and cleaning products.
LABSA is highly effective in emulsifying, wetting, and foaming, and is compatible with other surfactants. It is biodegradable and offers excellent detergency even in hard water conditions.
Detergent Industry:
Major raw material in the production of household and industrial detergents, liquid soaps, washing powders, and cleaning agents.
Textile Industry:
Used as a wetting and dispersing agent in textile processing and dyeing operations.
Emulsifier & Cleaning Formulations:
Acts as an emulsifier in degreasing, leather processing, and industrial cleaners.
Chemical Intermediate:
Neutralized with alkalis (e.g., sodium hydroxide) to form sodium linear alkylbenzene sulphonate (LAS), the active ingredient in most detergents.
