CASTOR OIL

Chemical Formula: C??H???O?
Molecular Weight: ~933 g/mol

Description:
Castor Oil is a pale yellow, viscous, non-volatile liquid obtained from the seeds of the Ricinus communis plant. It is known for its high content of ricinoleic acid, which provides excellent lubricating, emollient, and chemical reactivity properties. Castor Oil is widely used in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, lubricants, and as a raw material for chemical derivatives such as sebacic acid and 12-hydroxystearic acid.

Applications:

  • Pharmaceutical & Cosmetic Industry: Used as a laxative, emollient, and ingredient in creams, lotions, and soaps.

  • Lubricants: Provides excellent lubrication under high and low temperature conditions.

  • Paints & Coatings: Used in alkyd resin manufacture and as a plasticizer.

  • Textile Industry: Employed in dyeing and finishing of fabrics.

  • Chemical Industry: Raw material for sebacic acid, undecylenic acid, and polyamide resins.

  • Rubber & Adhesive Industry: Improves flexibility and adhesion properties.
