CAUSTIC SODA FL

Chemical Formula: NaOH
Molecular Weight: 40.00 g/mol

Description:
Caustic Soda, also known as Sodium Hydroxide, is a strong alkaline compound available in flake, pellet, or liquid (lye) form. It is colorless to white, highly hygroscopic, and soluble in water with strong exothermic reaction.

Caustic Soda is one of the most important and versatile industrial chemicals used in chemical manufacturing, pulp & paper, textiles, soaps & detergents, water treatment, and petroleum refining. The liquid grade (47–50%) is produced by electrolytic processes and offers consistent purity and alkalinity.

Applications

Chemical Industry:

  • Used in the production of sodium salts, detergents, dyes, and organic intermediates.

Soap & Detergent Industry:

  • Key ingredient for saponification of fats and oils; used in manufacturing bar soaps and liquid cleaners.

Pulp & Paper:

  • Employed in the pulping and bleaching of wood fibers.

Textile Processing:

  • Used for mercerization of cotton and pH control in textile finishing.

Water Treatment:

  • Utilized for neutralization of acidic effluents and pH regulation.

Petroleum Industry:

  • Removes acidic contaminants (sulfur, organic acids) from petroleum products.
