Chemical Formula: C?H??NO?
Molecular Weight: 149.19 g/mol
Triethanolamine (TEA) is a clear, colorless to pale yellow, viscous liquid with a mild ammonia-like odor. It is a tertiary amine and triol, combining the properties of both alcohols and amines, making it a highly versatile chemical intermediate. TEA is completely miscible with water, alcohols, and many organic solvents. It is widely used in the manufacture of surfactants, cosmetics, lubricants, cement additives, and corrosion inhibitors.
Applications
Surfactants & Detergents: Used to produce triethanolamine-based soaps, emulsifiers, and cleaning agents with enhanced stability and foam control.
Cosmetics & Personal Care: Acts as a pH adjuster, emulsifier, and neutralizing agent in creams, lotions, shampoos, and shaving foams.
Cement & Construction Chemicals: Functions as a grinding aid and performance enhancer in cement and concrete formulations.
Metalworking & Corrosion Inhibition: Used in lubricants and metal-cleaning fluids to prevent corrosion and improve surface protection.
Textile & Leather: Serves as a softening, dispersing, and neutralizing agent.
